Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure performed to reduce a large labia, reshape labial skin, repair a damaged labia, or change the appearance of the vulva.
Am I a good candidate for labiaplasty?
You may be a candidate for labiaplasty if you are in good health, experience discomfort when wearing tight pants or riding a bike, and if you feel embarrassed about the size of your labia. It’s best to delay the timing of surgery until after you are done having children.
The Procedure
Labiaplasty is usually performed under a general anesthetic and lasts from one to three hours. Depending on the desired results, Dr. Jejurikar will reshape and sculpt either one or both labia and may use one of several techniques. After the incisions and alterations have been made and the area closed with fine, absorbable sutures, sterile dressings are applied.
Recovery
You may experience bruising and swelling and possible discharge for a three to four weeks. Sexual activity should be restricted for six weeks until you are fully healed.
