The Results of Brazilian Butt Lift Do Not Appear on X-rayJuly 13, 2011
Many of you have seen the picture posted all over the Internet: Kim Kardashian is proudly posed next to an x-ray, which reveals no evidence of buttock implants. This is meant to be proof that she has not undergone any type of buttock augmentation or buttock enhancement.
I have no personal knowledge as to whether or not Ms. Kardashian has undergone buttock augmentation. However, the most commonly performed method of buttock augmentation, the Brazilian butt lift, does not utilize buttock implants. In this procedure, extensive liposuction is performed elsewhere in the body, most commonly the inner thighs, outer thighs, lower back, and abdomen. After a purification process, the fat is re-injected into the buttocks. With the Brazilian butt lift, patients experience a very natural result using their own fat. Because the results are so natural, and no implants are utilized, there is no evidence on x-ray that the patients have undergone surgery.
Thus, although Ms. Kardashian may be telling the truth, and she may not have undergone buttock augmentation surgery, the x-ray proves little.
